About the Event

Join us for our annual Spring Native Plant Sale at the Community Farmers Market on Saturday, May 11, 8 a.m.–1 p.m. We will have a wide variety of affordable native plants and seeds grown and harvested from member gardens. All proceeds benefit the chapter and fund our efforts in the community.

Most plant prices will be between $3 and $10. Purchases from the Spring Native Plant Sale help fund our chapter’s initiatives, including community gardens, assisting with the Lost River Cave meadow restoration, providing grants for local organizations, and participating in educating youth about native plants.

Members and supporters interested in donating plants or volunteering during the plant sale, please fill out the volunteer form.

Why native plants?

Native plants provide food and shelter for local wildlife, restoring and protecting biodiversity. There are real benefits for humans as well. They improve water and air quality with their deep root systems, which mitigate localized flooding and store carbon that would otherwise enter our atmosphere.

In the last century alone, we’ve lost millions of acres of diverse habitats to urbanization. The good news is, every individual holds the power to make a positive impact. Native planting practices contribute to a healthier planet and more resilient ecosystems. A monoculture, like turf grass, deters insects and animals, so there won’t be diverse life in a yard that doesn’t incorporate native landscaping.

Email [email protected] if you have questions about the plant sale, or if you would like to donate native plants or seeds.
