Wild Ones Southern Kentucky Hosts Annual Bird Feeder Workshop

| News

On Sunday, January 21, 2024, the Wild Ones Southern Kentucky Chapter hosted its third annual bird feeder make-and-take event. This popular family-friendly workshop has become a favorite for both participants and the Wild Ones volunteers!

More than 70 creative participants worked their way through the River Birch Room at Lost River Cave to pick a pine cone, smear it with bark butter, roll it in bird seed, and decorate it with dried fruits, foliage and other natural objects. The beautiful finished products will benefit local birds and contribute to a healthy ecosystem. Many participants also went home with cedar log bird feeders kindly donated by local optometrist and avid birder, Dr. Kevin Burt.

Events like this couldn’t be planned or executed without passionate members and volunteers, including nine volunteers who helped participants during the event.

Support from Wild Ones members and donors help the chapter fund events for our community. The birdfeeder make-and-take event is one of many events that allows the chapter to connect people and native plants for a healthy planet. We host monthly meetings and activities such as workshops, lectures, plant sales, nature hikes and more. Visit our events page to explore all of our upcoming events.
