Beautification at Barren River Lake State Park Monarch Waystation

Updated April 2 — Artist Nellie Lutzwolf has posted an update on her Instagram, reading:

Monarchs need conservation action now! Since the 1980s, the eastern population has declined 80% (western has declined 95%). Research supports monarchs fit the Endangered Species Act (ESA) classification of threatened. Luckily there are ways to improve the situation.
Barren River State Park houses a Monarch Waystation, a garden dedicated to help monarch butterflies. I love working on projects that bring attention to conservation efforts. I get to work alongside compassionate humans dedicating their time and energy to improve our impact on the environment. My involvement in this project is thanks to @friendsofbarren and @soky_wildones
Stay tuned for a future ribbon cutting, caterpillars, and the blooms of host and nectar plants!
